COURSES

 
 

Clever Little Bees offers day and evening courses for adults and primary school children during the school term and school holiday programmes at the Phillipstown Community Hub. I also offer one-off, personalised in-class lessons at schools.


Teaching content varies between terms depending on what stage the bees are in the beekeeping season.

OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR, TEACHING CONTENT WILL INCLUDE:

- Bee biology

- Maintaining healthy bee colonies

- Bee’s life cycle

- Identifying the differences between a queen bee, worker bee and drone bee

- Identify pollen, nectar, honey, wax and propolis

- Treating for pests and diseases

- Wintering down

- Extracting honey

- Learning about pollination, propagating plants and planting bee friendly plants.


For children:

After-school beekeeping course:

Clever Little Bees offers after-school beekeeping courses for primary school children. Classes run once per week during the school term, $400 per term (10 x 1.5 hr lessons). All PPE gear is provided except gumboots.

Tuesdays: 4pm to 5.30pm at Phillipstown Community Hub


 

Beekeeping holiday programmes:

Clever Little Bees offers school holiday programmes for children to learn about bees alongside real beehives. Children will participate in arts and crafts activities, as well as spending time experiencing practical beekeeping skills in a safe and supportive learning environment.

Programme options available as single days or for the week.

 

For adults:

Beekeeping course:
